Bali is regularly slated as one of those places that offers up total escapism. Whether it’s in a tent you’ve lugged across Asia or a five-star resort bristling with luxury, the island is a haven for those wanting to get away from it all.

This week, Bali is where we want to be. We want to be feeling eco in the Indonesian island’s first glam-camping site, Glamping Sandat, in traditional Balinese town Ubud.

The camp, made up of five tents and three cabins in over-the-top eco-luxury style, is about as far from a wet weekend battling with tarpaulin as you can imagine.

The tents are glamorous to the last: they boast PROPER beds (round, wooden, bamboo?), and are sat in private gardens overlooking coconut palms. Of course, the tents come with a mini-fridge, air-con, WIFI and an iPod dock.

And if you want to sack off the camping, Balinese culture is on your doorstep in Ubud, with temples, rice paddies and monkey sanctuaries to be explored. And you don't have to go back to a damp tent afterwards – result.
