If you can't scrape together the cash to leave Blighty this summer, then head to Pembrokeshire. It's a more traditional holiday destination, and the beaches around Tenby are still some of the most beautiful stretches in the UK.

Country house The Grove in Narbeth, just inland from Tenby, is a good choice for suitably chilled foodie summer break. The restaurant at the hotel has yet to win a Michelin star (although some say it's slated for one) but for peace and quiet in the Welsh countryside it's a good bet. You don't really want the crowds of Marbs, do you?
