As part of the ten-day Thames Festival this year, four Butler’s Wharf restaurants are celebrating the river’s beauty, history, mysticism and, er, the fact that it looks alright by night, by staging the dark culinary event of the month: the Butler’s Wharf Blackout.

It does exactly what it says on the tin. Le Pont de La Tour, Cantina del Ponte, Blueprint Café and Butler’s Wharf Chophouse will be turning out their lights from 8pm every night to get the alfresco experience started. Join 140 others, all scoffing a three-course meal, wine and coffee by candlelight on a 40 metre pop-up Henry VIII-style banquet table (covered by a plastic roof in case the famous wet British summer materialises).

Plus, the restaurants will jump on the sensory experience bandwagon by hosting their own themed events throughout the ten-day blackout. Blueprint Café will be starting the extra shindigs off on Friday night with a Neon Noir Silent Disco. Le Pont de La Tour will stage a Fire and Flambé Night next Wednesday, and Butler’s Wharf Chophouse has organised a candlelit Victorian feast and ghost bus tour on next Thursday. And finally Cantina del Ponte will be blindfolding their customers to celebrate the food of love for Love is Blind on Friday 13th – just be careful with your knife and fork, we don’t want any mishaps.
