The basics
Nestled in the mountains surrounding the coastal city of Bilbao, BBK Live has a chilled out blend of culture, sea, sun and music.
The festival
Set up in 2006, Bilbao BBK Live is a baby in relative terms but don't let that put you off. Having nearly doubled in capacity to 40,000 in recent years, it's now an established fixture on the continent's festival scene and has the lineup to prove it.
While starry line-ups have garnered most of Bilbao BBK Live's attention, it’s not all about the music – there's a distinctly relaxed vibe, with the campsite located less than a kilometre away on Arraiz Mountain so festival goers can kick back and take in the spectacular views before the festival really gets going.
For those that are looking to see a bit more than the surroundings of their tent, they can don swimming gear, grab a camera and head down from the mountains and into the city, or onto one of Bilbao’s many beaches.
If you’re looking for more than just a run-of-the-mill festival set up, head to Northern Spain this summer.
Our tip
While the festival doesn’t really begin until the afternoon, the city of Bilbao has plenty to offer. Casco Viejo, Bilbao’s old town, is bursting with bars, pubs and a lively market.
