The festival
This is North Carolina's most experimental festival with a varied lineup 160 bands strong, held over three days. Locations are varied too, from the stage at downtown Raleigh City Plaza to more intimate bars and clubs – there are 30 venues in all.
If you do it right (and juggle the manic schedule), you'll have an awesome opportunity to experience everything from pop and rock, to soul, electronic, and hip hop.
Hopscotch is committed to promoting local music, and on average, at least 40% of the bands come from inside North Carolina. Add to that art and photography exhibitions, and the overlapping Hopscotch Design Festival, and you'll find yourself amid a major celebration of local creativity. That doesn't mean to say it's just in-state bands here: there's some prominent, international talent appearing on the lineup, too.
