The basics
Head to Waterfront Downtown in Detroit to soak up the sun and more tunes than you shake a pair of headphones at.
The festival
If you're a fan of techno, then this is the festival for you. Detroit started the scene, and it's still championing it today at Movement. From big acts to underground artists, all areas are represented, so your tastes will be satiated no matter what you fancy.
Hey! Come back! Don't worry if you're not a die-hard techno-head – there's a bunch of other electronic goodness to funnel into your ears, with hip hop, drum and bass and any other type of electronic music you can think of (yeah, obviously Skrillex has played there before).
It's all very concrete, and a long way away from Glastonbury (literally), but then that's half the point, so embrace it.
Our tip
There are loads of after parties, and even after-after-after parties, so, erm, GO TO THEM.
