The basics
High tech music in a Roman city
The festival
As their website tells us, "roBOt Festival is the most important fruit of labour - but certainly not the only one - in a process that creates continuous intersections with communication processes, the culture industry, innovation, the ability to deal with the contemporary economic and organizational complexities."
Despite that, there's still a chance this could be fun. Set in a selection of Palazzos and other beautiful locations around Bologna, it hosts a vast number of top-quality electronic musicians and DJs, as well as progressive art and film screenings. There's a heavy futuristic, computerised vibe to the festival which contrasts nicely with the ancient beauty of many of the venues. City-based festivals are always fun, and this one is in a very pretty city indeed. Just don't get talking to anyone about the intersections of communication processes, or you might not get home till Christmas.
Our tip
If Berlusconi asks you to a pool party, we strongly advise you to turn him down. Or at least to double your normal rates.
