The basics

A local festival celebrating the arts and comedy, as well as an array of musical genres.

The festival

Shrewsbury Fields Forever – named after that well-known Beatles track – is a small, local festival of only about 8,000 people. It started life as a weekender, but in 2014 it was extended to three days, kicking off with British hip hop chart topper Tinie Tempah (quite possibly the biggest act the quaint town of Shrewsbury has ever seen). Alongside Tinie, there was a range of indie bands including The Cribs and dance acts such as Redlight.

Besides music, the festival also has a strong focus on comedy and the arts. With the Sunday Jestival comedy stage hosting acts such as Russell Kane and Lee Nelson last year. This charity-led festival is fun and family friendly – especially as kids under 10 go free. If you need a break from the stages, head to the funfair or the silent disco.

Our tip

Take a ride on the festival's own boat party down the River Severn.
