The basics
Family friendly music festival in small-town Illinois. One of Rolling Stone's top 40 music festivals.
The festival
As Brits, the image we at Festival Baby have of summer camp is very much Parent Trap-based. We fully expect this festival to end with our sleeping bag and Cuppy the Rabbit balanced precariously on the roof of our tent, and maybe a high octane fencing duel. But even if you get unlucky and there are no PG shenanigans or japes at Summer Camp, it will still be worth a visit.
As a family-friendly festival with certain designated "no-substance" camping zones, it certainly targets the more mature raver. But with previous headliners including Skrillex, Bassnectar, The Flaming Lips and Willie Nelson, it really does cater to all tastes. If you can cover a mate in silly string and rig up a bucket of custard to fall on his head when he unzips his tent in the morning, then that's just a bonus.
Our tip
The festival employs a whole gaggle of camp counsellors to represent the festival, but take it from us, they're not real counsellors. Do not tell them about that time Tim Bennet pushed you off the swings. They'll have nothing useful to add.
