The basics
While it’s not as cutting edge as you might expect something from New York to be, the Hudson Project looks like a quality weekend out.
The festival
2014 was the first year for this upstate New York music fest, which sees five stages nestled into the foothills of the Catskills mountains.
Live artists are on site painting all weekend, there's an art bazaar and craft market as well as a focus on left-field rock, hip hop and indie. Carnival rides, installations and performances and a gaming centre means there’s plenty to do - but this is an adults only event, under 18s aren’t welcome. With gourmet food on offer from the region’s coolest food trucks and restaurants and an interesting line up, this is a high quality festival.
Camping is optional (but we’d recommend it as the site isn’t that close to a city), but you can choose between general, VIP camping, glamping options, you can even just buy everything you need to camp on site.
Our tip
Trade in used cans and bottles, cigarette butts and so on for points that you can use to buy eco goods and food at the festival.
