The basics
Family friendly festival with big name acts
The festival
Bzzzz, it's VOLT Festival! This lesser-known fest on the Austrian border might not be so famous outside of Hungary, but it attracts over 100,000 people a year, plus big name acts, which have included Fatboy Slim, Bastille and Prakker. Okay, we don't know who Prakker is and/or are, but trust us, some biggies make their way to Sopron's biggest (possibly only) festival.
Another big draw of VOLT is that it somehow combines huge crowd numbers with a family-friendly atmosphere, making it perfect for serious music lovers who have breeded (or bred) at some point in their adult life but would still like to enjoy live music. Awesome
Our tip
Don't ever touch live wires. You will regret it. Also, don't ever watch Eurotrip. It has nothing to do with electricity, it's just a really, really bad film.

Getting there
How do I get there?
Arriving by plane
Planes to Hungary arrive at Liszt Ferenc Airport (BUD). From the airport you can easily get into the capital by taking the 200E bus that takes you in the city centre, from which you can continue your way by train. For more on public transportation within Budapest, click here.
Arriving by train
You can easily reach Sopron by train if you are coming from Budapest. Trains run approximately every hour during the day from Keleti Railway Station. You can check the timetable over here.
Arriving by car
Sopron is situated right at the Austrian border. Take the M7 to the M1 in Budaörs then continue on the M1 to Kóny. After that you need to follow Route 85 until you reach Sopron. Not as complicated as it sounds, we promise!
