Ponder Swiss food and most minds head to the fondue pot. But Zurich has become one of Europe's most progressive and eclectic dining cities in recent years and on 16 June, Corin Schmid, who heads the kitchens at Zurich's Drei Stuben and The Artisan, will bring a taste of it to west London.
Schmid is to team up with Canal exec chef Lewis de Haas (HAM Restaurants – also Crispin and Bistro Freddie) to host a four-hands dinner in partnership with Foodism magazine, London’s largest free food and drink mag.
The menu includes snacks, two starters, two mains and a brown butter cake to finish, with a welcome aperitif and a flight of Swiss wines – a region that drinks almost everything it makes, which is why you've probably never tried one. All will be served sharing style on communal tables.
And if you haven’t heard of Schmid, she trained under Anton Mosimann in London before returning to Zurich, where she now cooks reworked Swiss classics at Stuben, and garden-led, international dishes at The Artisan.
Schmid’s style will suit Canal menu perfectly. The restaurant, perched on the Grand Union with a south-facing terrace, leans into the “urban Riviera”: produce-led, modern, and European in flavour.
We’re excited to present one dinner which marries different cities with shared culinary instincts.
