For us new music geeks there really is nothing better than being able to show off to our mates that we saw the latest hot music property "before they were cool".
That's a sure fire way to get real popular real fast, right? So join us and all the rest of the coolest kids at Dot to Dot in Bristol, part of a unique festival which happens across three consecutive days in Manchester, Bristol and Nottingham.
The festival
Each day of Dot to Dot happens in a different city so if you're a true geek you can travel to each one and miss absolutely nothing. A lot of the headliners perform at two of the locations - some of the acts at all three even - so you might be seeing the same ones twice but why the hell not! It would be worth it to catch a relatively unknown artist that will probably be blowing up in the very near future, as is usually the case with the smaller acts at Dot to Dot.
Dot to Dot has a pretty impressive history for putting artists on the map. We're talking about acts like The xx, Mumford and Sons, Florence & The Machine and Jake Bugg. As a result it's a big date for music industry heads so keep an eye out for journalists, radio DJs and record label scouts.
The other great thing about Dot to Dot is that tickets are really reasonably priced, especially if you get an Early Bird. But being a smartarse know-it-all? Priceless.
Our tip
The iconic Thekla is the Wristband Exchange for the Bristol event. It's a bar/club on a huge boat, a Bristol institution and a really cool hub for the festival. See if you can spot the Banksy piece on its hull.

How do I get there?
By train
Bristol Temple Meads is the nearest station to the Wristband Exchange at Thekla, with links to London and other major national locations. For routes and timetables check the National Rail website.
By bus
