The basics
From small beginnings in 2013, which saw just one stage at the exceptional St Luke's Bombed Out Church venue, to 2014 where the festival expanded to two venues, Liverpool Calling is going up in the world.
The festival
The Bombed Out Church is exactly what it sounds like - an old church which was bombed in 1941 and burned for three days, losing its roof and gutting the whole building. Now a venue for live music and arts activities, its ruinous caverns make a wonderfully unique frame for a day of live music.
The line-up at Liverpool Calling is mainly British, with a focus on Britpop and indie rock, so expect to see unconventional cult bands that are a bit left of centre.
Our tip
Due to a survey and planned maintenance on the church by Liverpool City Council in 2015, the future for the venue is a little unsure at the moment. Fingers crossed it's back bigger and better - check back at the festival's Facebook page for updates.
