The basics

Quirky three-day festival in rural Warwickshire, with a distinctly psychedelic flavour and a creative ethos that goes beyond the music.

The festival

With a family-friendly atmosphere, rolling countryside and a massive range of offbeat activities like soap making and northern soul dancing lessons, this Midlands charmer offers a refreshingly sideways take on the traditional festival formula.

Expect an intriguing collection of artists, all with a suitably unconventional edge – in 2014 oddball Texan collective the Polyphonic Spree, Tim Burgess, British Sea Power and folk icon Donovan graced the stage.

You’re even allowed to bring folding chairs for when the pace of the music is more about bucolic reflection than busting moves. Which, if you’re anything like us, won’t be very often.

Our tip

If you’re looking for peace and quiet with the kids, check out the family camping on the children’s farm. Just try not to wake the sleeping lions. (We’re kidding. Probably.)

Getting there

How do I get there?

Travelling by Car: Take Junction 3 off the M42 heading South on the A435 towards Redditch & Evesham. After 1.5 miles take the B4101 Left signed BEOLEY / HOCKLEY HEATH / TANWORTH IN ARDEN. From here please follow the Lunar Festival signs which will guide you towards Umberslade Farm Park. Its important not to congest the narrow sleepy lanes of Tanworth in Arden so please follow signs to bypass the village.

Using the Shuttle Bus: A shuttle will run from Kings Heath, Birmingham every hour.

Travelling by Train: The nearest train stations are Danzey Green (B94 5BE) or Wood End (B94 5DS) on the Stratford / Birmingham line.
