Mutek, Barcelona
Mar 2020
The basics
Barcelona’s where it’s at for avant garde art, music and a view of the future.
The festival
If you’re into avant garde arts, music and the future of all digital creative art the Barcelona is your Mecca. Not only does it host Sonar, but also an outpost Montreal’s Mutek, a very similar set up that explores possibilities of musical and digital technologies alongside one off jaw dropping performances in a range of spaces from clubs to ancient convents.
Over the three days choose from seminars on the role of architecture in music to kids workshops where they can learn to loop sounds and samples and late night gigs of dreamscape electronica and minimalist sounds.
Tickets can be bought per gig or for the whole festival, and as it’s a city wide event there’s no camping - accommodation is down to you but there’s a whole range of options open to differing budgets.
Our tip
It’s Barcelona! Don’t rush home but get out there. Hit the beach or explore Las Ramblas.
