The festival
You’ve got Sonar in Barcelona promoting digital and electronic music of a European persuasion and Mutek does a very similar line in high-end intelligent installments.
This year the Montreal outpost has joined forces with digital arts festival Elektra to celebrate their 15th year anniversaries. So as EM15 you can expect a doubled up festival, with its centre in the famous Musee d’art contemporain de Montreal.
By day there are symposiums on various digital arts and music subjects, workshops, conferences and demonstrations. By night Mutek takes over the musuem and other club spaces to bring you some of the most exciting electronic music from over 100 artists, both Canadian and international. Tickets can be bought per gig or for the whole festival, and there’s no accommodation provided.

It’s also the International Digital Arts Biennial in Montreal this summer as well, so take in cutting edge art in over 30 venues across the city.

Getting there
How do I get there?
By Metro: Two of the four main lines connect downtown to major tourism sites as well as to numerous bus stops and train stations. Metro operating hours are Monday to Friday and Sunday from 5:30 a.m. to 1 a.m., and Saturday from 5:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m.
By bike: The city has 350 kilometres of bike paths criss-crossing its territory, including natural parks and suburbs.
By foot: From the downtown area, you can access the Montréal Underground Pedestrian Network, which is used by over 500,000 people daily.
By air: Located only 20 minutes from downtown, is Montréal-Trudeau International Airport.
By train: Via Rail Canada serves more than 450 Canadian cities.
By car: If you are travelling by car from elsewhere in Canada or the United States, Montréal can be easily accessed by highway.
