The basics
If you like your house music, not to mention modern/northern soul, boogie, funk and the lark, then you don't want to be anywhere that isn't Carlisle this June.
The festival
Promoted by the legendary Yogi Haughton, SSW is a giant celebration of all things soul (and other stuff – see above). It revels in the fact that the crowd are one of the friendliest around, and are only there for two things: music and A GOOD TIME.
It's all held at an award winning holiday park with luxury apartments and static homes, as well as camping, glamping and touring pitches for those on a budget (with superb onsite shower and toilet facilities). Showers, proper toilets, beds, real food, what more could you want?
Music? Well, you're in for a treat because there are some absolute big-name legends playing – this is no small-fry fest. There's a big old slice of underground heroism playing too, so don't worry about that.
Add to that bars that stay open until seven in the morning, and you've got a party you're not gonna forget very soon.
Our tip
Don't be a boring idiot and go home when the festival finishes. GO TO THE AFTER PARTY.
