The basics

Music, art and a 60-foot ferris wheel on San Francisco's Treasure Island

The festival

Treasure Island is a smaller festival that rejects overcrowded stages and leaves you with epic views of the city and the famous bay. Names you definitely know play alongside those you'll quickly think you should know, and with just two stages it's easy to see a bit of everything. Add to that local food vendors, roaming art performers, and that 60-foot ferris wheel and you're left with an unforgettable weekend.

Big names feature, from electronic to pop, meaning you can dance your evening away or just spend an afternoon laying in the sun to the perfect soundtrack. Dip into stalls selling band merchandise and products from San Francisco-based stores, whether you want to represent your favourite artist or support local creatives. Make the most of your festival adventure with the complimentary bus ticket, so if you're fed up of tunes, you can enjoy San Francisco itself.

Our tip

If you're going to make it onto the ferris wheel be sure to do it at sunset, when it's at its most atmospheric.
