The festival
What The Festival has it all: art installations inspired by The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, a Japanese Spaghetti Western teahouse, a silent disco (always fun), an illuminated forest and lots more. The only thing it doesn't seem to have is a DFS sale, but then, DFS seem to have that little market covered. Also, they don't have a question mark at the end, which is unsettling.
Oregon's whackiest and perhaps best festival isn't just art and shizzle though, there's tonnes of music, with the likes of Gold Panda, Dillon Francis, Bonobo and Julio Bashmore having appeared in the past.
If you're wondering what festival to go to next year, and you've got a bit of money burning a hole in your pocket, call the fireman to put out the fire, jump on a plane — or a really big catapult — and get yo ass to Oregon town (state) for some freaky art and music action.
Our tip
Oregano goes very well with beef, chicken and lamb but not so much with pork — and don't even get us started on fish.

How do I get there?
By Car
Please follow the appropriate directions below to access the festival site. Do not use your GPS as it may give misguided directions.
FROM PORTLAND
Head East on I-84E to The Dalles. Take Exit 87 for US-197 toward Dufur Bend. Turn Right on to US-197 S off the exit and then Left to US-197 S/The Dalles-California Highway. Just after Mile Post 14, turn right onto Dufur Bypass Road (formerly Heimrich Street) (Watch for variable message sign that will be within 1 mile of the exit). In approximately 6/10 of a mile, veer left on to Dufur Valley Road. Continue West for 4.8 miles and stay right on Dufur Valley/Dufur Mill Road at the Y. Do NOT turn onto Wolf Run Road. After an additional 5 miles, turn right down the driveway into the signed venue Box Office to receive your credentials and to enter the event site.
FROM BEND AND ALL POINTS SOUTH
Head North on US-97N. Just North of the town of Madras, turn Right on to NE 6th St/The Dalles-California Highway. Continue on US-197N The Dalles-California Highway for 71 Miles then make a slight Left onto Dufur Bypass Road (formerly Heimrich Street) (Watch for variable message sign that will be within 1 mile of the exit). In approximately 6/10 of a mile, veer left on to Dufur Valley Road. Continue West for 4.8 miles and stay right on Dufur Valley/Dufur Mill Road at the Y. Do NOT turn onto Wolf Run Road. After an additional 5 miles, turn right down the driveway into the signed venue Box Office to receive your credentials and to enter the event site.
