The basics
A mother of a music festival that will rock the shores of Lake Geneva.
The festival
Named after a locally famous racehorse, the Paleo committee has been organising festivals and parties in this part of the world since 1983. The big one – the July festival is a humungous beast…over 230,000 people rocked up last year to see just short of 300 shows on six stages. If you’re of the bigger means better camp, then get your ass over to Paleo.
As well as all the usual headliners (Elton John is a bit of a coup), experience French chanson and the culture of the Andes at the annual Village du Monde. Head into the woods to find art installations, fascinating performers and surrealist art exhibitions in the Hive, but remember to take your time – as well as being huge in size, Paleo is on for nearly a week (the campsite stays open for a full seven days) so be prepared to dig in and go the distance.
Our tip
Your festival pass also gets you entry into the open air swimming pool down the road, so bring your togs.
