Palm Springs looks even cooler by moonlight – in photos

On five separate visits to the Sonoran Desert, Australian photographer Tom Blachford found out that the modernist architecture of the Californian city of Palm Springs looks even more stunning under the light of a full moon

There's something about the midnight glow of these shots of Palm Springs that makes you feel stuck in time, and it's not just the classic cars and outrageous mid-century architecture that once housed heroes like Sinatra, Dean Martin and, er, Barry Manilow: It's the mountains, the desert and the star-filled skies that provide the sublime backdrop to one of the coolest, quirkiest and most alien-looking places on Earth.
