This week we want to be (but can't afford to be) on Richard Branson's private island, Necker.

Necker's Great House is reopening in September after a fire razed it to the ground two years ago (remember the front pages of Kate Winslet saving Eve Branson, anybody?) and befitting of the island, offers sweeping views out of the Caribbean, the Atlantic and the neighbouring islands.

The entire island can sleep 30 – nine bedrooms in the Great House and six Bali houses dotted around on the sand – but it'll set you back a staggering £39,400 a night to have the whole island to yourself.

However, if you don't want it all to yourself, travel website Black Tomato is offering something seven nights from £11,495 per person over a 'celebration week' this autumn. The offer includes accommodation in a Bali House and flights with BA.

Better dig deep if you want to stay here...
