The basics
A beach-focussed festival with two locations – one each side of Newquay – is one part surf competition, one part music festival. And all about the good times.
The festival
The sun-soaked love-in between surf culture and music go way back to the sport’s earliest days, so combining the two in a festival isn’t exactly a leap into the unknown. Which is exactly why Boardmasters, with its twin centres of Fistral beach (surfing competitions, BMX, skateboarding) and Watergate Bay (music, camping and rides), works so well.
On the Fistral side, just west of Newquay, you’ll find an international competition that pulls in world-class surfers, while in Watergate Bay there’s an equally high calibre of artists and jaw-dropping views out to sea. Don’t forget to catch the sunset, if you haven’t already lost yourself to the music.
Our tip
Not just a music festival. When summer comes, head down to Boardmasters for a full festival weekend of beach-side surf living. Try your hand at surfing in Cornwall, watch pro surf competitions, eat well, drink well (in moderation!) and get your hands in the air for a perfect lineup of summer acts... all along the awesome Cornish coastline.
