The basics
Rock, electronic and dance come to the sunny (it's August) festival in Austria.
The festival
Austria's given us a lot over the years: Freud, Schwarzenegger, some mountains. Erm, chocolate? We think so anyway. And now Frequency, a wonderful festival just an hour from Vienna, a city finally made famous by Midge Ure's Ultravox in the '80s, it's a feast of musical talent with a mixture of huge international names and some local acts as well. Now in its 15th year, the festival has helped turn Sankt Pölsten into a young, hip town, or it would have done if we hadn't used the word hip, anyway.
Our tip
Make sure you stay for the evening (why wouldn't you?) – the firework and light show is amazing.
