This December, if you’re a motor sport fan, then you should head to the beautiful island of Barbados, which will host the iconic Race of Champions – one of the most prestigious motor sporting events in the calendar.

During 13-14 December 2014, the world’s greatest drivers from motor sport’s major events – including F1, World Rally, Le Mans, MotoGP and Nascar – will burn rubber on Barbados’ Bushy Park Circuit for this unmissable annual end-of-season contest.

This year, the venue will also feature the new Race of Champions’ Skills Challenge course, designed to test driving skills with a series of chicanes, slaloms, 360º turns and even parallel parking. And for petrol heads everywhere, following the legendary race, some of the cars will remain on the circuit, offering driving experiences for corporate guests, VIPs and fans.

Bushy Park, which has a long history of hosting big race events and is just a short drive from Bridgetown, the beloved capital, has the capacity to host tens of thousands of spectators as well as boasting a brand new clubhouse and pit complex. It is little wonder that Barbados was streets ahead of its competitors beating off strong competition to win the accolade of hosting the Race of Champions following a vote on various social media channels including Twitter and Facebook.

The Race of Champions has found a perfect home at Bushy Park. Enjoying a roaring reputation for motor sport, as well as numerous other sporting and leisure activities, Barbados embraces the spirit of excitement in all forms. The island’s vivid underwater landscape makes it a popular favourite for divers wishing to explore the island’s beauty on another level. Just half a mile from the shore, surrounding reefs protect clusters of tropical fish and species such as the Leatherback and Hawksbill turtles.

For those who prefer the more leisurely island life, Barbados’ golf options are the perfect antidote to stress. Thanks to year round sunshine and some of the most premier clubs, visitors will be able to enjoy a round or two at top class facilities. At the end of the day, they can kick back and experience the nightlife or immerse themselves in Bajan culture – either at one of the many bars and restaurants around the island.

A great way to see the best of the island is by investing in the Barbados VIP Card, which entitles visitors to a fantastic ‘buy one get one half price’ deals on a wide range of attractions. You’ll have exclusive access to some of the island’s greatest highlights, enjoying perks such as kids’ free entry to major attractions.
