Sunburn Festival, 27 December
Aptly we're in the middle of some bizarre Indian Summer right now – wait, that's not good enough? Get a proper one in Goa, then. Sunburn is one of Asia's biggest dance smashups, stuffed with big acts like Paul Oakenfold, Danny Avila and Dimitri Vegas and all kinds of other hedonistic pleasures (a hot air balloon over the crowds, anybody?). It doesn't hurt that Goa itself is gorgeous, with long sandy sweeps of beach and clear blue seas. Yeah, that Indian Summer is sounding pretty good now, right? festivalbaby.com/festivals/sunburn-goa
Alila Diwa Goa, Village Majorda. Rooms from around £105pn
After going hard at Sunburn, you'll be wanting a chic hideaway to retreat to – and we've got just the place. Alila Hotels' Goa outpost in Gonsua Beach, Majorda, is elegant and peaceful, with an infinity pool overlooking swathes of palm trees. We recommend at least a three-night stay to recover from tinnitus. alilahotels.com
Palolem beach bars
Palolem is one of South Goa's best beaches, and luckily for you is one of its more relaxed – the most high-octane it gets here is a silent disco. Head to one of the many beach bars dotted along the shore for cheap plates of daal and exotic-looking cocktails while you watch the sun set across the bay – there's a reason so many tourists descend on Palolem. goatourism.gov.in
