DO: Electric Daisy Carnival, 20-22 June

We know what you're thinking: who goes to Las Vegas and sacks off the slots? EDM (that's electronic dance music to you and I) fans might disagree. Insomniac's Electric Daisy Carnival returns to Las Vegas with a smasher of a line-up next month, and is well worth missing the casino for. Big name DJs including Benny Benassi and Armin van Buuren will take to the stage in a showy set of events – think day parties, nightclubs and pool parties. (The festival also takes place in Milton Keynes – but Sin City probably just about tops it.) electricdaisycarnival.com

STAY The Bellagio, 3600 Las Vegas Boulevard. Rooms start from $159

You'll know the Bellagio thanks to its crazy fountain shows that entertain the Vegas strip outside. But what you won't know is that it's got nearly 4,000 rooms, two highly rated restaurants and a Cirque du Soleil show with acrobats and synchronised swimmers. Yes, this is the glitziest and best Vegas hotel, and of course that's without mentioning the obligatory casino downstairs… bellagio.com

MOVE The High Roller, £21 for a 30 minute ride

If you enjoy looking down on things – and those who come to Vegas to cruise around with the limo sun roof down, waving feather boas – and you're a high roller, then get yourself to the, er, High Roller. Vegas' brand new 550ft ferris wheel is the world's largest observation wheel and the best way to get a view of the blazing Vegas strip. thelinq.com
