The basics
Lowlands festival is one of Europe's oldest fests (the first one was in 1967), so you could say that they've had a lot of practice. And practice makes perfect, right?
The festival
Sometimes strict genre festivals (ones that focus too much on one type of music) can be a bit much. If you're in the mood, then they're great, but now and again it's nice to be able to flit between different genres – a slice of rock for a bit, then a dab of pop, then a fucking mental sweat-off to some dodgy electronic stuff. Variety is the spice of life.
Lowlands is one of those types – it's got something for everyone and caters to all tastes. As such, it attracts a wide range of people from all over the world, although the majority of the crowd are Dutch. Not that it matters, Dutch people can speak English better than most English people.
Aside from the music, you've got a nice little selection of alternative entertainment, like film, art, comedy, theatre and watching that man that's just shat himself over by that tree.
Our tip
It's near Amsterdam. OBVIOUSLY go to Amsterdam at some point you idiot.
