The future is here, ladies and gentlemen, and it’s big, grey and made from repurposed drain pipes. That, at least, is the vision (and sleeping arrangement) you’ll be confronted with when you check in to Das Parkhotel in the German city of Essen. Your suite is a concrete sleep tube (great name for a Danish death-metal band, incidentally), complete with light, power, a proper double bed and a ‘pay as you wish’ system where your room costs whatever you can afford and think it’s worth.
