Fjallraven Canada Wool Padded Jacket: What is it?

A lumberjack-style flannel jacket made with recycled wool and polyester that’s perfect for carrying you from chilly city streets to windswept hillsides come wintertime. It's warm enough to be an outer on milder days, or layerable with a shell on top when it gets damp out. With its button-up front, padded collar and woodsman-style check print, this is definitely more of a look-completing piece of old-school apparel when compared to some of Fjallraven’s techier ranges, but it’s nonetheless one that feels as cosy as wrapping up in your favourite woolly blanket.

Fjallraven Canada Wool Padded Jacket: Why do I need it?

Sustainability is the name of the game with this Fjallraven jacket, and the Swedish brand has piled a load of time and resource into producing more responsible materials for its garments over the last few seasons. This jacket is made from recycled wool that’s padded with Lavalin – a sustainable filling made from Swedish wool and cornstarch fibres – while its shoulders and elbows are reinforced with G-1000 Eco (made from recycled polyester and organic cotton), which is waxable for extra water and wind resistance if you need it.

Fjallraven Canada Wool Padded Jacket: Should I buy it?

If you’re looking for a good-looking, hard-wearing jacket that’ll last you for many winters to come, yes. If you’re looking for a one-for-all-adventures coat that’ll work in super-cold, super-wet climates or on high-output days out, you probably want something with a bit more waterproofing, breathability and down fill. That said, those jackets often end up looking a bit techy when worn around the city or out walking the dog, so we’ll take this as a welcome addition to our outdoor arsenal.
