The basics
Three days on a farm in South Africa? Well, it beats the Glasto mud-fest.
The festival
If the rather unreliable UK weather forecasts for the summer are putting you off getting that tent out (even we can’t predict it), it’s time to look further afield. Ignore Europe (so last year) and think further still…to South Africa in fact, where Oppokoppi festival is celebrating its 20th year of doing its thing (namely organising kick ass parties).
Having grown from a 400 person affair to a three day-er complete with seven stages, 150 musical acts and the small matter of 20,000 music hungry party people, Oppikoppi will be a weekend to remember (or not). With this year’s line up still under wraps, we can tell you that you can expect the finest South African and international DJs, rock, hip-hop and alt acts, who will be supported as ever by local bands you won’t have heard of but are usually well worth discovering.
Our tip
This is a no under 18s festival, so leave the kids at home.
