The festival
Set near the German border, on the riverbank of the Meuse, Solar is one festival that can legitimately claim that it’s for creative people, made by creative people. Anyone can submit an idea for the festival, with the organisers giving creatives the space to bring their plans for stage design, decor, catering and art installations to life.
In terms of music, Solar is relatively dance-orientated with previous headliners including DJs and producers like Benga, Jeff Mills and Azari & III. The festival’s other stages cater primarily to Dutch musicians representing everything from hip hop to techno.
Aside from music there is also a theatre arena and a steampunk stage to check out alongside all the various attractions that creatives have dreamed up especially for the festival.

Bring some swimwear, the festival campsite is right next to a beach.
