Fjallraven Kånken backpack: What is it?
A backpack, obviously. But not just any old backpack – the Fjallraven Kanken is one of the world's most iconic outlines, and turns 40 years young this year. Since starting out as an ergonomic rucksack for schoolchildren in Sweden back in 1978, the Kanken has undergone a few changes: 54 different colours, five sizes and three different materials (including a snazzy daypack made from recycled plastic bottles) to be precise – but the premise remains the same: this is an all-in-one bag for everyday adventures.
Fjallraven Kånken backpack: Why do I need it?
First up, it makes you look infinitely more cute just by having it in your general vicinity. But aside from that, because Fjallraven has just launched a new range of Kanken Essentials to celebrate the backpack's 40th birthday, you can now get keyrings, laptop cases, travel wallets and more – all with that little Arctic fox logo emblazoned on them. What's more, all of them are carefully designed so they fit easily into a Kanken. Nice.
Fjallraven Kånken backpack: Should I buy it?
If you want backpack for all occasions that looks as good as it feel, then yes. Just make sure you buy from an authorised retailer, as the backpack's popularity means there are a ton of cheap, low-quality fakes popping up in markets and souvenir shops all over the world. You wouldn't want all your gear falling out of your bag on your travels now, would you?
