Protest Nogo Shorts: What is it?

A multifunctional pair of boardshorts from Dutch brand Protest, who’ve been creating design-led, innovative gear for snowboarders and surfers since 1993. Part of this year’s summer range, the Nogo shorts are a quick-drying pair of boardshorts made from a blend of cotton and recycled polyester. Sitting above the knee, they have the look and feel of a regular pair of shorts, but plenty of functionality to surf, paddleboard, swim and more – perfect if you like hitting the waves, but don’t buy the whole ¾-length beach bum vibe.

Protest Nogo Shorts: Why do I need them?

In a word: simplicity. These shorts are designed to take you from the streets to the beach without an outfit change. Wear them out to breakfast, hit the waves before lunch and be dry by the time you get to the beach bar afterwards. These shorts pay proper attention to detail, too: there’s a rubber print on the inside of the waistband so they stay in place without slipping or chafing when surfing, swimming or walking around when you’re out of the water. Elsewhere, four-way stretch means you’ll have full range of motion when popping-up on a board or playing beach cricket, and still stay comfortable when driving home after a day at the beach.

Protest Nogo Shorts: Should I buy it?

If you’re looking for comfort and function in a low-key pair of shorts that’ll carry you from shoreline to sea, these are just the ticket. They’re perfect for surf lovers who don’t go for out-and-out surfy looks.
